Reaching ultra-high vacuum for a large vacuum vessel in an underground environment

Located far from anthropical disturbances and with low seismic magnetic background noise profiles, the LSBB facility is ideal location for a new hybrid detector study of space-time strain. The MIGA infrastructure [1], utilizes an array atom interferometers manipulated by same beam, resonant optical field 150 m long cavity. constitutes method geophysics, characterization spatial temporal variations local gravity, demonstrator future decihertz gravitational wave observation. Such requires ultra-high vacuum (10 −9 mbar) on size (150 m) scale (36 3 ) not typically seen in underground laboratories other than CERN [2], especially environments high humidity (up to 100%) significant dust contamination (milimetric micrometric porous rock particles). Here, we detail status describe ongoing generation analysis works - this comes tests prototype vessel, focusing heating cycles, residual gas analysis.
